Boys Cry (2018)
Mirko and Manolo are best friends and live in the suburbs of Rome. They both live in poor conditions with their single parents, are still in school and struggle with occasional odd jobs to make ends meet. Together they share dreams of women, of sex and money, of a better life to come. Then, after killing a man in a hit-and-run one night, they get involved with the local mafia and their lives change dramatically.

Description
Mirko and Manolo are best friends and live in the suburbs of Rome. They both live in poor conditions with their single parents, are still in school and struggle with occasional odd jobs to make ends meet. Together they share dreams of women, of sex and money, of a better life to come. After killing a man in a hit-and-run one night, they get involved with the local mafia and their lives change dramatically. Soon they find themselves doing the dirty work for their new bosses and have fresh blood on their hands. But lured by the dreams of easy money and illusions of a thriving career, they fail to realize the consequences of their choice. Life in the underworld becomes exceedingly tough and Mirko and Manolo soon disconnect from family and former friends as they engage on a download spiral, a pathway towards darkness.

That's not a crime flick which I talk about, but rather a good, powerful drama speaking of young punks, hoodlums, in search of easy money and life. You have already have seen hundreds of films on this subject but this one is excellent, pulled by outstanding performances. Not for all audiences, very dark and pessimistic, as was another Italian film DOGMAN that I also commented in July.
Watching this film was a painful experience but a rewarding one too. The title, which I could roughly translate as "the land of what's enough", was not completely clear to me.The film shows a very realistic picture of contemporary life in degraded outskirts of big cities. Thanks to the good acting and direction the film makes you feel and think. .Which is what I look for in films.
A great acting and photography are able to portray the difficult condition experienced by young guys living in the big cities suburbs,and the incredible ease of how they get involved in criminal activities.Despite this movie comes a bit too late it deserves attention for the ability to analyze the psychology of the two young main characters.
